Hi @abhi_1112,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Laser MFP 1188fnw is showing a “SPL ERROR – Undefined Command” with code 11-1114 on Windows 11. This usually indicates a printer driver or communication issue. Let’s troubleshoot step by step.

1. Restart Printer and Computer

Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Restart your computer.

Sometimes, a fresh start clears temporary errors.

2. Check the Print Job

Cancel all pending print jobs in Windows → Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners → Your Printer → Open queue.

Reprint a simple test page.

3. Update / Reinstall Printer Driver

Go to HP Support → Laser MFP 1188fnw → Drivers & Downloads.

Download the latest full feature driver for Windows 11.

Uninstall the current printer driver from your computer:

Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners → Select printer → Remove device

Reinstall the newly downloaded driver and set the printer as default.

4. Check Printer Language / Emulation

SPL errors often occur if the driver is sending a print job in the wrong language.

Make sure the driver matches your printer’s SPL/PS/PCL settings:

Go to Printer Properties → Advanced → Printing Defaults → Emulation/Language.

Set it to SPL / HP LaserJet if available.

5. Test with a Simple Document

Print a simple text document (not PDF or images) to verify the printer works.

If it works, the error may be due to complex formatting or incompatible software.

6. Check Network / USB Connection

If connected via network:

Ensure the printer has a stable IP address and is reachable (ping the printer IP).

If connected via USB:

Use a different USB port or cable to rule out communication errors.

7. Firmware Update

Open HP Smart → Printer Settings → Update Firmware.

Firmware updates often fix SPL/command errors.

I hope this helps.
