Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been experiencing getting SSL Errors in ALL Webbrowsers when accessing or attempting to access any of my HP Printer's internal web pages. This is now happening to BOTH my HP OfficeJet 5200 All in One as well as my HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium All in one.

Googleing the errors gives me solutions however NONE of them worked.

Does anyone know if HP is updating their SSL Certfiicates? OR how we can get and add their current device self-sign certificate so that we can get past this error and manage the devices?

I have googled for this process and am not finding ANYTHING.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are unable access your printer EWS page.

Follow the below steps to restore network defaults to fix this issue:

Network reset on HP OfficeJet 5200 printer

1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ).

2. Touch Restore Network Settings, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

3. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

To reset the printer's network settings on HP OfficeJet 6700 printer.

1. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then touch Yes. A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

2. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, touch Reports, and then touch Print Network Configuration Page to print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

with respect, i think i have the same problem - i am not sure you completely understood what is being asked.

the basic ews page opens ie http://192.168.1.xxx  but any of the options from that page require HTTPS connection, which will not open on updated browsers because (as far as i can tell) the self signed certificate HP generate in the printer are not acceptable to the modern browsers.

also there is no longer an option (well not for me on edge or chrome on windows 10) to "yes go to the dangerous site anyway i am game for it"

so i cannot get to the settings parts of EWS page either, which is what original question (imho) relates to.

any advice welcomed as to how to get to those settings/ around this problem

thank you for reaching out to me.

hours of struggle and google / forums suggesting my problem with accessing the https://  pages needed in ews - i gave in and contacted HP support, turns out that (after long process) my BitDefender installation was stopping the transition from http to https without giving any warnings about what it was doing.  "encrypted web scan" option was the problem, which apparently stays on even when av and firewall are disabled...  argghhhhh

anyway, turn that off and suddenly the options in edge/ chrome/ IE re-appear to "yes i know the risk take me to that dastardly website"  are available.

this at heart is a certificate problem, but BitDefender made the situation unacceptable.  thanks for your response (oh, and for others reading this, the exceptions bit of that section of bitdefender doesn't work for this, i will raise a ticket with them.)

Ok, however this does not help me, I too have Bitdefender, however it is Bitdefender Total Security, and once installed there is NO WAY to temporarily turn it off, only way is to complete un-install it. So is there a plan to create a firmware update that makes SSL certificates that are compliant with modern browswers? This is what I really need, is a cert fix, and not open my system to attack by removing BitDefender, then having to reinstall it, just so I can get to a HP device.

i also have BitDefender total security.  turning it off even temporarily did NOT help.

open the Bitdefender Dashboard.  select "protection". on the left menu.  in the list of features, see "online threat prevention" and choose settings.

in the list that opens, turn OFF "encrypted web scan".

you will then be able to access all features of the EWS.  i then turn this back on again after.   I have tried putting my printer's IP address into the exceptions - which i would've thought should work - for me it doesn't. this seems to be a BitDefender issue.   INcidentally, in the EWS there are options about using HTTP or HTTPS but they don't get around this issue.

I tried to raise a complaint with bitdefender but didn't get far.

see no reason why this approach wouldn't work for you, too.. and if you're able to raise a ticket with BitDefender that'd be great!  this was such a painful experience, and BD wasted a lot of my time, and HP support
