Hello,
what I need is to scan documents and save them as editable pdf(OCR) from the document feeder (ADF) direct to a folder on a DS216 Synology NAS.
My question is: can the OfficeJet Pro 9020 do exactly this? because the lower version 9010 can not!
What I managed till now using my new OfficeJet Pro 9010: is to scan from the flatbed glas direct to a folder on NAS as not editable pdf. After hours of research and trials I found out that this is pretty much everything that this printer can do. Unfortunately not enough, and even by using my Macbook and HP Smart App, I was not able to save documents as editable files with OCR.
Thank you all in advance for your support.

Hello,
first of all thank you to HP techSupport for their help.
Sort summary as I see it and concerning my HP OfficeJet Pro 9010:
- there are no differences between OfficeJet Pro 9010 and 9020 concerning OCR function
- documents can be scanned directly to folder on Server from the document feeder (ADF) or glass pad but not as editable documents (PDF/Doc) because the OCR-converter-app is not on the printer or on the server installed.
- documents can be scanned and sent to email as editable PDF or even WordDoc (I think that works just because the OCR-convertor runs under a HP server in this case ) --> this is also the only case when OCR function works for the printer!
Solution that it works for me:
1. scan files to folder on server as normal PDF. ( thank you HP)
2. let the so called "synOCR" app convert the files into editable PDF directly on the NAS. (Thank you Synology)

@CostinM, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I see that you'd want to scan as editable PDF on the HP Officejet Pro 9020 All-in-One Printer As per the printing specifications, yes, it is possible to scan as OCR/Editable PDF. Refer to the User Guide pages 67 to 70 for a detailed explanation of scanning as OCR.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
