HP DeskJet Plus 4155 All-in-One Printer

Help someone!  My job depends on being able to scan docs.  But more than half the tries, my HP DeskJet Plus 4100 does not load the scan menu software and says, "Try again Later."  I spoke with Tech Support last week most recently.  They fixed it... momentarily.  Before that, I spoke with them in March.  Before that, I spoke with them (I think) in January.  If I had reached out to tech support each time I had this problem, I'd have a jillion calls to HP.  They fix it for a minute, then it falls back into not being able to load its own scanning dashboard.  Do I want to buy about $20 a month more of warranty so HP will help me fix it?  Um, no.... because I've had 2 instances where HP Instant Ink left me high and dry without ink. Because my work's kinda time-sensitive (as it is right now), I'm just ready to be done.   I'm a lawyer working on the last 5 cases of my career and don't want to buy another printer for 3 months of use.  Ideas anybody?  I cannot imagine why HP can't disable the energy saver or whatever keeps the scanner from loading.  Yet... here I am.  Working late because it takes sooooo many tries to actually scan my document.

for scanning you see the printer scan option here we can use the top scanner. as you can see here placing a page downwards on the left hand side and close the lid.
