My English version of HP Smart does the same thing.

I believe the cause of the problem is a result of how the fonts are set / handled within the HP Smart software.  If it is not a direct font issues, it is perhaps the manner in which the small menu window is created.  In other words, there is no external fix.  At least in my case, the meaning of the chopped text is discernible and the "chopped" bits are not evident once the drop down menu is opened.

This is just a guess, of course.  The actual cause might be related to the system's interpretation of the setup written in the software.  I have not yet found a way to correlate that the program is doing with how my system is handling the visual output.  (Not my area of expertise so no surprise that I cannot find the relationship / trouble spot.)

What to do?

Hope someone actually has a solution - or ignore it.

Beyond a slight spite of irritation when I open the software, I admit I have been ignoring it.
