Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Yesterday my printer started with the 79 service error.  At first it happened every 5 minutes or so.  When the error comes up it restarts by itself.  Now it is basically stuck in a loop and showing the error almost immediately after rebooting.

Firmware has not been updated for sometime.  I rolled back firmware and disabled auto updates after an auto update made my non HP cartridges useless last year. It had been working fine until yesterday.

I read a few posts that said to turn off IPv6.  I did but it made no difference.  I also turned off wifi to see if I could get it to boot clean just once.  The  most recent error was fatal error 200.  I'm ready to ditch HP for life after this, but I need to get some orders printed while I wait for the new printer to arrive.

EDIT:  After turning wifi and IPv6 off it stops rebooting.  I'll try and find an ethernet cable and try that.  Problem is my router is in another room.

As I type this it seems to have stabled itself now it's no longer connected to the network (wifi, ethernet or USB), but it's kind of useless like that.  Any tips to get me through?

To everyone having this problem - turn the computer off and on (to clear out the error) then once it goes to Ready, go to Setup, Service, RESTORE DEFAULTS.  It worked for me!!!

Will that re enable auto firmware updates?

I have had this problem all day and have tried everything.  if you can get your computer to the Ready screen long enough, go to Setup, Service and then RESTORE DEFAULTS.  It worked and my computer is running find now..

I don't know, but I read a post further down and it suggested this with success, so i tried it and it worked.  My computer is fine now.  Must have been something with our same printer or a bad firmware update.

I've had firmware updates off though so I don't know why it differently it suddenly stopped.

Now my problem is trying to get my printer and desktop connected to the network. My desktop only has ethernet, and printer is throwing a fit when wifi is on.

I'm going to try the reset you mention. As it is fright now it's a big paper weight, so I may as well try it. I have the old firmware of I need to roll out back, unless HP have managed to put a block on that too.  😏

Thank you

Restoring defaults worked!  I will be using my cartridges and moving away from HP for good.
