I know I have to missing something super simple but I cannot get my printer to connect to my home wireless network. My router is not assigning the printer an IP address. I have tried so many different steps but cannot get this to work. Appreciate any support.

Hi @Golfgal
Try these steps -
Network Restore - Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for 5 seconds.
If the router has a WPS push button -
1) Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for more than three seconds to start WPS push mode. The Wireless light starts blinking.
2) Press the WPS button on your router.
NOTE: THE MOMENT YOU PRESS THE WIRELESS BUTTON ON YOUR PRINTER, WITHIN 30 SECONDS YOU SHOULD PRESS THE WPS BUTTON ON THE ROUTER.
If this step is not successful, then we need to first connect the printer to a computer using a USB and then convert the wired connection to wireless as the printer does not have a control panel to enter the Wi-Fi password.
Please refer to this document for steps - HP Printers - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection

sorry it has taken a few days to get back. Resetting the printer and then clicking wireless button and then the WPS button on my router did not work.
Then tried to change from USB to wireless. Found my network, entered my password and then it searches, searches and then I get this box (pic attached).
Really crazy and frustrating as I have gone through so many different ways to try and do this. I have recieved everyting from the router cannot assign IP address to your printer to if I turn off my printer and back on, I can see it on the network (like from my phone) but then after 5 minutes, it goes away.

Unfortunately it is not. I have tried ALL suggestions more than once and I cannot believe it is this hard but would love to get this resolved or I have to move away from this perfectly functioning printer 😞
Appreciate any help you could offer !!
Thanks,
Andrea

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93
If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hello .. thank you for the detailed instructions. I went through all of the steps so optimistically but once again got to a step that stalls the process and will not complete. during the network setup, a message appears that the printer joined the network successfully but is waiting for the router to assign an IP address (screen shot attached). I click continue to wait and then a second window appears (screen shot attached). I reboot the router per the second screen shot suggests and again tries to set it up but get the message again (screen shot attached).
So is it a stupid question to ask why/how the IP address get s assigned ? Can I do it manually?
Again, appreciate any support ...
Thanks!

You can assign it manually, however, for that you would need an IP address.
Try installing the HP Smart App: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142
