My iPhone. iPad and IMac are all connected to my HP Smart tank 7000 series printer on my home WiFi, however the printer suddenly started queuing print jobs for no apparent reason. I’ve tried printing from every app without success and my OS  is up to date on all devices. Been through all the resetting tips on here but had no joy. The printer is recognised on the system but just won’t  print!

@Colin1282, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Restart the Printer, Devices, and Router

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router: Sometimes, Wi-Fi connectivity issues can cause print jobs to queue up. Power cycle the router as well.

Check Printer’s Queue

  • On iMac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Select your HP printer and click on the Open Print Queue button. If there are jobs in the queue, try to clear them by canceling or deleting them.

Reset Printer Settings

  • From the printer's control panel:
    • Navigate to the settings or setup section of the printer.
    • Look for an option to reset network settings. This will reconfigure the printer's connection and potentially fix issues.

Re-add the Printer on All Devices

  • On iMac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, remove the printer from the list, and then add it back by clicking the "+" button. This ensures that your iMac is using the correct connection settings.
  • On iPhone and iPad: Go to the Settings > Wi-Fi, ensure the device is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network, and check that the printer is visible in the list of available printers when trying to print.
  • If you’re using AirPrint, ensure that the printer is listed as available in the print dialog.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Sometimes a firmware update might resolve connectivity and performance issues.
  • To update the printer firmware:
    1. Go to the HP Smart app on your iPhone, iPad, or iMac.
    2. Check for any available updates in the Printer Settings or Firmware Update section.
  • Alternatively, you can visit the HP support website and search for the latest firmware for your printer model.

Check for IP Address Conflicts

  • Ensure that the printer and your devices are on the same network (same Wi-Fi band 2.4GHz).
  • If there’s a static IP address configured for the printer, verify that the IP address hasn’t changed, and update it in the printer settings if needed.
  • Try pinging the printer’s IP address from your iMac or iPad to ensure it's reachable.

Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Sometimes reinstalling the HP Smart app can resolve connectivity issues:
    • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your iPhone or iPad.
    • Reinstall the app from the App Store.
    • Open the app and reconfigure your printer.

Test Printing from Different Devices and Apps

  • Test printing from different apps on your devices to see if the issue is app-specific. If you can’t print from one app but can from another, that app might be the issue.
  • If you’re using AirPrint to print from your iPhone/iPad, try printing from a different iOS app to see if the issue persists.

Check Printer’s Network Connection

  • Test the printer’s network connection by printing a Network Configuration page directly from the printer’s control panel (usually found in the printer’s Settings > Reports).
  • Ensure that it’s properly connected to your Wi-Fi network and has a valid IP address.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
