Smudges on photo printing

I have been using this printer for over a year now and just started printing photos. I haven't tried the 4" x 6" photo paper, but, I am trying to print a full size photo on 8.5" x 11".

Everytime I try it (on photo paper), it smudges.

Is there a way to keep this from happening, or, will I have to have my photos printed professionally?

Consider using a paper that provides "instant dry" features and "no acid" content.

Suggest that you try HP Advanced Photo Paper

Make sure the paper is loaded into the printer correctly.

User Guide > Load Paper - Page 18 

Load Paper print side "down"

                                                            ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The the print quality to normal (as opposed to "best") quality.

The "best" quality print swabs more ink on the paper.

Not all paper / prints need the "best" quality setting and sometimes it is too much of a good thing.

Download, Save, and install:

HP Photo Creations

Photo Creations works along side your installed printer software to help you print your photos, images, and other projects.

Windows 8.x and Windows 10 - After the software is installed:

Click Start (windows key) > all apps > scroll the list 

Open Category HP

Find the HP Photo Creations application

Right-Click on the application and PIN to Start
