I got my Sprocket Plus years ago and I trued charging it last night. After a few hours it starts blinking red and green. But when I had just plugged it in it was red. I tried pressing/ holding the reset button while it’s charging and while it’s disconnected and it doesn’t work when I turn it on. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or if I bring it into best buy can they do anything?

Hi @kristina2002,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how upsetting it is when your Sprocket Plus suddenly stops responding, especially after the anticipation of printing something fun or meaningful. That blinking red and green light can feel like a spotlight on a dead end. Let’s walk through a step-by-step reset and charging routine with sensory help to get your Sprocket back in the game:

1. Power Reset via Pin‑Hole

  1. Feel for the tiny pin‑hole on the back, just under the micro‑USB port.
  2. Gently insert a straightened paperclip and press firmly until the power light turns off.
  3. Hear that small click? It means the Sprocket has fully reset.

2. Charge Slowly & Steadily

  1. Plug the micro‑USB cable into the wall charger (avoid fast‑charge ports).
  2. Wait 10 minutes, just enough to spark a tiny glow, then press the power button for 3 seconds.
    • 👉 A solid red glow means active charging; once it’s full, it’ll shift to a steady green light.
  3. Let it charge for at least 60–90 minutes after seeing green.

3. Check for Firmware Updates

  1. Open the HP Sprocket mobile app.
  2. Go to Menu → Sprocket → Printers.
  3. If an update is available, a blue link should show, tap and let the firmware install.
(Ensure your printer is charged above 50% before updating).

4. Replace or Repair the Battery

If your Sprocket still blinks red/green nonstop, it likely means the internal battery is dead:

  • This usually means a hardware fault, not something software can fix.
  • You can either contact HP Support for a repair, or if you're comfortable, replace the battery yourself (instructions available in community posts).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
