HP Smart Tank 615 Wireless All-in-One

I have the issue "door open" error at first, I've tried to reset the printer but then now I am stuck in "Fill Tanks" prompt even though the ink tanks are almost full.

@davedifonds, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer being stuck on "fill tanks"!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 615 is facing two separate issues—first, the "Door Open" error, and now the "Fill Tanks" prompt even though the ink levels are sufficient. Try the following troubleshooting steps:

Ensure the Ink Tank Door is Properly Closed

  1. Check the ink access door – Open and close it firmly to ensure it is securely latched.
  2. Check for obstructions – Dust, debris, or misaligned parts may prevent the door from closing properly.
  3. Power cycle the printer – Turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, then turn it back on.

Bypass the "Fill Tanks" Prompt

Confirm Ink Levels

  • Ensure ink levels are above the minimum fill line for all tanks.
  • If any tank is near empty, add more ink to see if the message disappears.

Reset the Ink Sensor

  • Open the ink tank lid, remove the ink caps, and put them back securely.
  • Restart the printer to see if it detects the ink levels correctly.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the printer while it is turned on.
  • Hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Use the HP Smart App to check if there's a firmware update available.

If the issue persists, let me know, and we can try additional troubleshooting! 🚀

Take care, and have an amazing day!
