HP Photo Envy 7155
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I was unable to scan on my HP 7155 printer. I thought that maybe my Smart HP app had stopped working, so I uninstalled it & downloaded it again from the HP website. I then got an error message saying it couldn't be installed, and then went to HP support. After explaining what had happened, I was connected to a technical support person who, I found out, was with Technos Care. He ran a lot of diagnostics on my computer and showed me results that indicated that many processes had stopped working because of several spyware infestations. After awhile, these were cleaned up, new HP drivers were installed, new HP software was installed, and my printer was working as good as new. He suggested a security solution which was basically a network firewall which would negate having to use virus protection. Again, I'm still thinking that I'm dealing with an HP "agent" or at least agent firm. Long story short, I purchased the security solution for 4 years which, although initially expensive, was not really way out of line for 4 years of a top-of-the-line Norton, McAfee, etc.  solution. As some have pointed out, payment was with a check that was scanned and made out to "Micro Techline LLC." Afterwards, I began second guessing my decision. I NEVER buy something like this without a good deal of research of both the company and the product. So, I decided to ask a couple of questions. Email inquiries came back undeliverable, and the website's chat function just died after a question was typed in. This was on a Friday, and by Saturday morning I had decided to just stop payment on the check. I am still in the process of trying to get ahold of somebody to discuss this, but so far nothing. Although I'm now a little (actually, a lot) suspicious of the "services" they provided for $250, I am willing to pay that, but not the $700 for the security software. My story appears to be similar to several others, so I'm curious how, or if, you've resolved your situation.

Aside from all the rest of this, a network firewall in no way negates the need for an Antivirus program. Depending on how you get your mail, you can easily get an email that will bypass the firewall. A firewall is just an additional layer of security. I am not familiar with the company mentioned and I have escalated your case to the moderators so that they can have someone from HP contact you to determine exactly what is going on.
