HP ENVY 4512
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Had a computer meltdown and had to do a clean reinstall of OS in order to get back my computer. My HP ENVY 4512 used to flip pages automatically, now will only flip manual. Color shows when I print a test page but when I print a document or a picture it is in grayscale only.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

To print on both sides please follow the steps:

From your software, select Print. 2. Make sure your printer is selected. 3. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box. Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences. 4. Select the appropriate options. ENWW Print Quick Forms 15 ● On the Layout tab, select Portrait or Landscape orientation, and select Flip on Long Edge or Flip on Short Edge from the Print on Both Sides drop-down list. ● On the Paper/Quality tab, select the appropriate paper type from the Media drop-down list in the Tray Selection area, and then select the appropriate print quality in the Quality Settings area. ● Click the Advanced button, in the Paper/Output area, select the appropriate paper size from the Paper Size drop-down list. NOTE: If you change the Paper Size ensure that you have loaded the correct paper and set the paper size on the printer control panel to match. 5. Click OK to print.

Let me know if this helps.

The first part of the problem is partially solved, it now does print sometimes in color, but I printed out 2 pages and they both were fine, the 2nd time I printed two others, there were colors on both of them. I also wanted to see if it would flip between the two pages automatically or would I have to do it manually. I had to do this manually. I sometimes have 10 or 12 page documents to print out and the automatic feature on this printer was one of the reasons I really love this printer. Now it doesn't do this automatically. I have owned this printer for a few years now, and it was working properly until now, why does it no longer flip pages automatically??????

I understand. Did you follow the steps to print on both sides given to you in the previous post?
