What right does HP have to lock/block the use of other cartridges when your printer is no longer under warranty, and when they do not make their cartridges affordable.  I am a mum of 2 children with single income, I use the printer for work and school.  I have wasted 65mins to get this issue resolved with HP online support through whatsapp.  While the response timing was good, the consultant was useless.

It's my printer, I own it outright and it has no warranty, why do you have the right to block what chip/cartridge I use.  If I ruin the printer, it's my problem. so please tell me why does HP block this and blackmail people into being tied to using HP cartridges only, why?  I think that's wrong, considering the cost of living is sky high atm.

Why is there a need to take down all personal information/all information on the PC and cartridges that I am using, then 35 mins later be told HP blocks the use of Non-HP cartridges.  I already knew that the message on my printer screen was clear.  My question was to how does one remove this software check, it should be as simple as clicking a button and disabling the stupid check for original HP chips only.

HP, please do something about this immediately, so I can use my printer again.

Hi @Jezebel1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

Please refer to the below links for more information related to your issue.

If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above links do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.

Hi Irwin,

Thanks for taking the time out to reply.  I had found those tips online previously and tried it but it didn't work.  However, I tried again upon receiving your reply, so I am sure that I have followed the steps correctly.  I may have to call the manufacturer, but it's worked in the past, just this time round nothing seems to work.  HP did an update sometime middle of last year and since then I have not been able to use ink that I was able to prior to that.

Regards,

J
