HP Recommended

I have a HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus.  The printer sat idle for 5 months.  Prior to that it worked fine.  When attempting to use it again, I got message that certain ink cartridges were low.  I replaced the cartridges with ones I had laying around.  Then I got a message on the printer: There is something wrong with the printer or ink system.  Turn the printer of and on.  If that doesn't work, contact HP.  I put brand new cartridges in and had the same message.  Tried unplugging it and plugging it back in.  Tried lifting the print head then re-seating it.  Nothing works.  Any suggestions?
