Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Top of pictures keep getting cut of when printing 4x6 photos from photo tray.  Using HP photo paper.  When pictures print there is a thin white boarder on both sides, no border on top, and a double thickness border on the bottom.  Selecting borderless printing in setup on computer.

Printer supports borderless printing.

 HP ENVY 7645 e-All-in-One Printer (E4W44A) Specifications

and

Borderless PrintingYes (up to 8.5 x 11 in, 216 x 297 mm)

Whether the photo "fits perfectly" depends on whether the photo is exactly the shape of the paper you are using for the print.  This is the Aspect Ratio.

In the case of a photo that does not fit the shape of the paper, you can "fit" the image onto the paper so the whole photo is printed.  If the shape of the photo does not fit the shape of the paper, you will see a white border on one or more sides of the printed photo.

The other option is to "Crop" the photo into the shape of the paper.  This method takes a bit from the side(s) and / or top / bottom of the photo to make it fit the shape of the paper.  Depending on the photo, this might work for your photo or it might actually "cut" portions of the photo you want to keep.

If you want to print a "not the same shape photo" on a particular size paper, only real solution is to edit your photo before it is printed to manually crop the photo so it is the same shape as the paper.

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Simple photo / image print - Borderless

What else?

HP Smart Windows includes a clever Scan Import option that lets you open a saved image and then do some simple editing to the image before it is printed.  Editing options include a manual or automatic crop feature.  Might be worth a look.

What else?

Photo Editing Software provides more control over what part of the photo you are printing.

For example...

Irfanview > Brilliant Free Photo Viewing, Editing, and Print Software

This is NOT plug and play software.

That said, simple (and more complex) photo printing using settings to manage the size and shape of the printed photo are relatively straight forward.

Irfanview provides an exceptional software experience that can be used for a variety of scan and print tasks, including the “Mirror” or horizontal flip function plus several other options not found elsewhere.

  • Create a Restore Point (optional, recommended)
  • Download the appropriate version (32bit or 64bit) of the program from the Website and install the program
  • Additional information at the website, including:  FAQ

NOTES

  • Both 32bit and 64bit versions for Windows are available.
  • Irfanview is also available as an Windows 10 Application from the Microsoft Store

What else?

Programs / Software like  Paint (mspaint) can be used to print photos.  Once the basics are understood, the program is fairly easy to use and will might even work in a user restricted environment.

Editing is not impossible with Paint.  Do save open and save the file under a different name before making any changes...
