I believe we can disable the ink alert notification using HP Utility. Here is how to do it:
1.) On your Mac, click Finder, click Applications.
2.) Click the Hewlett-Packard or HP folder, then double-click HP Utility. (If HP Utility is not available, then you may download and install HP Utility from here)
3.) Click Message Center.
4.) Click Settings and then Un-check all the options.
5.) Click Apply Now.
