URGENT - HP Envy 4500 won't print with only black cartridge

Hi,

My HP Envy 4500 won't print black and white with only the black cartridge. I wants to use the color cartridge, which is almost empty. Result: my pages get printed in some greenish color. I can't select the option "only use black cartridge" in the print option either (it's disabled). I tried to remove the printer and re-install it again, but it doesn't change anything. I'm using a Mac with OSX 10.6.

I need to print urgently some important documents, so any quick help is more than welcome!!

Use the single-cartridge mode to operate the HP ENVY 4500 series with only one ink cartridge.

The single-cartridge mode is initiated when an ink cartridge is removed from the ink cartridge carriage.

LOL, it works, thanks for the hint.

So if I understand well, if I print with both the color and black cartridge in the printer, it uses the color cartridge for all black? That might explain why the color cartridge is empty so quickly... This is really bad and inefficient.

But thanks again for the answer, I can print my documents now.
