I have tried the print/Scan doctor, downloading from the HP website .... everything to get the printer software onto my computer but it will not load. The printer (Officejet Pro 8600 Plus) will not scan from the printer screen (computer not found) and the printer is not found in the list of programs on the computer. However the printer is in the list of printers and prints just fine. Any ideas on how to get the software to actually load?

Hi @gybigguy,
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "unable to scan to computer" issue.
Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
And then download and reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from Software and drivers page
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Sorry for the delay in responding. The first problem is that there is no HP printer in the programs and features section. There are: HP Officejet Pro 8600 Help, HP Officejet Pro 8600 Product Improvement and HP Update.
The printer does appear in the Devices and Printers and it is the Default printer. The printer is working and I can get to the scan feature from the HP Smart App. The printer itself does not recognize the computer when you try to scan using the touch screen. Bottom line is it is working but the printer is not in the programs and the printer does not see the computer (wireless) from the touch screen.

Were you ale to follow the above instructions and uninstall and reinstall the printer on your computer?
Try HP Print and Scan Doctor
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printer connectivity issues.
