Home network. Printed fine for a year then suddently cannot print. All other computers in home can print to this HP. I went through all troubleshooting actions (unplug from power, confirmed on same w-less network, delete printer and reinstall, reset printing system, check drivers, etc). Assuming is it a problem with my computer I made several attemps to reinstall printer.
attempt 1) I select the plus sign then select add printer or scanner. A box opens that shows my printer, I then select my printer name and under the USE option 'secure airprint' is the default. It attempts to set it up but is replaced by error message 'Unable to verify the printer on your network'. I have tried with all three USE options, ie: Airprint, secure airprint, and HP. The remaining two USE options result in a box saying "setting up HP OFFICEJET..." and it just hangs up and never completes.
attemp 2) I select the plus sign and under 'nearby printers' I see my printer name. I select this one. Window opens that says "preparing HP series...", then is replaced by message, 'An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer.'
Please provide recommended fix.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer. I understand that you are unable to print from your Mac and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.
Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,
Reset the print system again.
-
Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.
-
Depending on your version of OS X, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.
-
Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, then click Reset printing system.
Figure : Resetting the print system
-
Click Reset in the confirmation window.
-
Enter the Administrator name and password, then click OK.
-
Wait for the printing system to reset. When complete, no printers should display in the list.
-
Try installing the HP software again.
Uninstall the HP software.
-
Click Finder
in the Dock.
-
In the menu bar, click Go, click Applications, then open the HP or Hewlett Packard folder.
-
If HP Uninstaller is in the folder, double click it, then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.
-
If HP Uninstaller is not in the folder, continue to the next step.
-
-
Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.
-
In the menu bar, click Go, click Go to Folder, type /Library/Printers, then click Go.
The Printers folder opens.
-
Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.
-
Restart the Mac.
-
Right-click or Ctrl + click the Trash icon, then select Empty Trash.
Reinstall the HP software.
-
Turn on the printer.
-
If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the computer.
-
If prompted, select a method to identify your printer model, then follow the on-screen instructions to go to the downloads page.
-
Click Download next to HP Easy Start or next to the full feature driver, depending on the option that displays.
-
Open the Downloads folder, then open the HP Easy Start file or the full feature driver .dmg file to begin the installation.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer connection and install the software.
-
When prompted by the installer, click Add Printer to create a print queue on the Mac.
The Add window opens.
-
Click the name of your printer, click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu, then click Add.
Figure : Select your printer name in the Use menu on the Add screen
-
Return to the HP installer to complete the installation.
Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.
Let me know if that helps.
Cheers.
