Hi. My  HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 Wireless printer is not working. There is an error message: "A problem has occurred with one of the printer's critical system files. A printer update will be installed to fix this problem."

Nothing happens and no buttons work. I would like to know what should I do to get the printer working again.

I suggest that you download the manual firmware update from support.hp.com and try to install the update that way.

This issue took up about 25 hour of my time to solve, but here is what ultimately evolved,  I had attempted to downgrade my software using the LD execution file, and it failed, then I got the update required error, but nothing would happen.  I learned how to use a flash drive, which I had reformatted using FAT 32 protocol.  I then put the restore firmware to the most recent version, which is the one that didn't allow for non hp ink.

Then I went to settings and reset the firmware update to off.  The election will remain even if you change the firmware, it is essentially the same as an external toggle switch, so that once you reset the computer, it will not automatically update it back to the most recent version, which it will do immediately to your printer with a wireless connection,  the easiest way to prevent the auto updates is to elect "OUT", by selecting to turn off firmware updates.

Then reset the printer to the original factory settings.  Make sure that it is really reset, you probably will need to put in the date, time, language and geographic location.
Then I would recommend rebooting the printer.

I can't believe it was that easy, but it is not working.  I really like this printer, I'm glad its working again, I try to keep my expenses under control, and I avoid automatic charges of any kind, even a $5 monthly charge is a leak in my finances that isn't necessary, and it doesn't work for me.

I am not an HP employee, just a simple retiree, try to survive in an ignorant and greedy world.
