On my laser printer, when I print, the top area of the printout is printed again in the bottom area. The last area of the printout then contains a ghost print of the first area. It would be nice if the error could be fixed, as the printer has printed just 120 pages and is still using the toners that came with it. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem would be great!

Ok, today I've got the new image drum and the problem is solved!
I'm surprised that an image drum is broken after about 2 years and only 120 printed pages.
I'm curious how long the new one lasts.

According to the user guide http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06266695.pdf
repetitive images can be caused by using a printer at higher altitudes, in which case there is a setting you can try to compensate. If you are not at a high altitude then my guess, based on the spacing is a problem with transfer belt or imaging drum, depending on the design of the printer.
You could also try different settings for paper type to try and get better fusing, but typically a fuser issue will show multiple repetitions down the page, not a single one.

Hello Repairtrooper,
because i'm on vacation at the moment, i've been dealing with the problem for almost the whole day now and also found the approaches that it's either the image drum or the transfer belt.
Unfortunately, cleaning the image drum with alcohol didn't bring any success. So I've now ordered a new image drum for the time being and hope that it's done with that.
Otherwise, I'll probably order the expensive transfer belt after all to be able to use the printer again.
I'll report back to you if it worked.
Kind regards

A quick look at the user guide suggests that this model only users an imaging drum and not a transfer belt. There are several different designs for printers including direct transfer which this appears to use. There is a good chance that replacing the drum is going to resolve your issue. Post back either way as I am curious as to what solves your problem.
