Hi @mikets808,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is stuck on "validating" after installing new ink tanks, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Make sure the ink tanks are properly seated in their slots. Remove them and reinsert them, ensuring they click into place.

Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it. Remove the ink tanks and gently clean the gold contacts on both the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer still unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • If you can access the printer settings, check for any available firmware updates that might resolve compatibility issues with the new ink tanks.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any error messages or blinking lights that might indicate a specific problem. Refer to the printer manual for guidance on these codes.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the ink tanks are genuine HP cartridges, as third-party cartridges may not always be compatible and can cause issues.

Perform a Printer Self-Test:

  • Many printers have a self-test or diagnostic tool that can help identify issues. Check your printer’s manual for instructions on how to run this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
