Trying to help a friend set up their new 9125e HP printer. Can get it on wifi and can connect to it from phone and computer but it cannot read printer ink level and when I try to print I get the error CE.E5.66.0B

I suspect a HW issue where it cannot detect the printer cartridges. I tried to factory reset and re-do from scratch and it says I need to replace the cartridges (new printer cartridges came in box and dont expire until late 2026 hence why I suspect HW.

Can anyone confirm what CE.E5.66.0B might mean?

Thank you

@LosX, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Error CE.E5.66.0B for HP Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems your printer is experiencing a hardware issue related to detecting the printer cartridges. Here are some steps to help you resolve the error CE.E5.66.0B:

Install the Correct Cartridges:

  • Ensure that you are using the cartridges that came with the printer, which are typically labeled SETUP. These are needed for the initial setup.

Reinsert Cartridges:

  • Open the cartridge access door and make sure the cartridges are properly installed. Remove them and reinsert them carefully, ensuring they click into place.

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Confirm that the cartridges are compatible with your printer model. The cartridge numbers compatible with your printer should be listed in the documentation that came with the printer or on the printer itself.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Follow these steps to clean the cartridge contacts:
    1. Turn the printer on.
    2. Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the accessible area.
    3. Remove the cartridges by pressing down on the cartridge to release it.
    4. Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and inside the print carriage.
    5. Reinsert the cartridges and close the access door.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
