HP OfficeJet 5222 All-in-One Printer

The printer said that it was updating for like 3 or 4 days and now it is showing this error: 0XDD000D78 KERNEL_EXEC_ST and clicking buttons doesn't do anything.

Hi @Aleseea,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the error you’re seeing, 0XDD000D78 KERNEL_EXEC_ST on HP OfficeJet 5222 All-in-One Printer, generally indicates an issue with the printer’s firmware. Here are a few troubleshooting steps that might help resolve this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the error persists.

2. Attempt a Firmware Recovery (if available)

  • Connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable if possible.
  • Visit HP’s Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads page, and search for your printer model to see if there’s a firmware recovery tool.
  • If available, follow the instructions to install or recover the firmware.

3. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

  • If you can access the settings on the printer, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults (these steps may vary slightly).
  • This can reset any recent changes and help clear software glitches.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
