Hi @Larry8015e,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP8015e printer is encountering an issue during its startup process. The "canceling" message and blinking lights usually indicate that the printer is attempting to cancel a print job or process that might be stuck or encountering an error. Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve this issue.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Stuck Print Jobs:

  • On your computer, open the print queue (this process may vary depending on your operating system).
  • Cancel any print jobs that are stuck in the queue.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. If so, follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Open all access doors and remove any stuck paper if present.

Check for Ink/Toner Issues:

  • If you're using an inkjet printer, ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink.
  • If you're using a laser printer, ensure that the toner cartridge is properly seated and has sufficient toner.

Reset the Printer:

  • Look for a reset button or a specific reset procedure in your printer's manual. Performing a reset can sometimes resolve issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect any cables connected to it.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn on the printer.

Check for Error Codes:

  • If the issue persists, check if there are any error codes displayed on the printer's screen. These codes can help pinpoint the problem and may require specific troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
