HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w Printer

So, none of the buttons in the hp video work to print  MFP M28w configuration report.  After several minutes of trial and error one of the chintzy buttons produced a configuration report.  The configuration report listed  a Wi-Fi direct password of: 12345678 which to me is like a company putting a password on rolls of toilet paper.  Anyhow, like everything about this company, the Wi-Fi direct password does not work.  How does a consumer get the hp, password to use the product they bought? Hp are unavailable as always and probably wouldn't know anyhow.

If the Wi-Fi Direct password listed on the configuration report for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w printer (which is 12345678) is not working, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

 

Confirm Password Entry:

  • Ensure that you are entering the Wi-Fi Direct password exactly as it appears on the configuration report. Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive, so make sure to input it exactly as shown (all lowercase).

Restart Printer:

  • Sometimes, restarting the printer can resolve temporary connectivity issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Retry Connection:

  • Attempt to connect your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) to the printer using the Wi-Fi Direct connection again, entering the password carefully.

Reset Wi-Fi Direct Settings:

  • If the password still does not work, you can try resetting the Wi-Fi Direct settings on your printer. Here’s how:
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi Direct button on the printer for 3-5 seconds until the status LED blinks.
    • This action should reset the Wi-Fi Direct settings on the printer, allowing you to set a new password or use the default one (12345678).

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there’s a firmware update available for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w printer. Firmware updates can sometimes fix bugs related to Wi-Fi connectivity and password issues. Check the HP support website for instructions on how to update the printer’s firmware.

If you’ve tried all the above steps and the Wi-Fi Direct password still does not work, it’s possible there may be a hardware issue or a more complex configuration problem. Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
