I have been to print out some of my photos on some of my other types of photo paper and my printer just pushes it through as to ignore that brand of paper.  But when I load it with HP Photo Paper it will print on it.  Could someone please explain to me why it will only print on HP Photo Brand Paper?  FYI, the photos will also print on regular paper of any kind.

Thank You in Advance

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Forums.

I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer and it prints photos only on HP photo paper. I read that on other brand photo paper then pages comes out blank.

During my research, I found that if the non-HP branded photo paper is of a different weight than the supported paper capacity by the printer then the printing may not happen on the non-HP photo paper.

Below mentioned are the paper handling specifications for this printer:

In case the non HP photo paper is of the same weight and dimensions and it still does not print then you may update the firmware on your printer. The firmware can be downloaded and installed via this HP link.

The printer needs to be restarted after the firmware is successfully installed.

I sincerely hope this information helps. Let me know the outcome.

Good luck! 🙂
