HP OfficeJet 4655
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

From the printer's control panel, it indicates the wifi radio is off.  It does not list an IP address, nor a network name, and the Wifi indicator is not lit up.  Yet, on nearby wireless devices (cell phone, laptop), the printer shows up as an available wireless connection (DIRECT-47-HP OfficeJet 4650).  If I power the printer down, then it  no longer appears as a wireless connection.

I've updated the firmware, and reset the printer with the following directions (see below), yet it is still broadcasting a wifi signal.  How can I get the printer to stop broadcasting a wifi signal??

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

Welcome to HP support community.

Your printer Wi-Fi direct is turned on, turn it off.

Press Wi-Fi direct button  on the printer display to turn it off.

I hope that helps.
