Did you print off the Network Config sheet as the User Guide says?  Should be there.  Page 74 of manual.

To print the wireless network test report and network configuration page
Press the Wireless button ( ) and the Information button ( ) at the same time.

● The wireless network test report shows the diagnostics results for the status of the wireless network,
wireless signal strength, detected networks, and more.
● The network configuration page shows the network status, hostname, network name, and more.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP forum.

Is your printer connected wirelessly to your network?

If it is, can you key in the IP address and use the Embedded Web Server to get the Wifi Direct password.

Else, can you try the following :

When you turn on Wi-Fi Direct the first time, the printer automatically prints a Wi-Fi Direct guide. The guide provides instructions about how to use Wi-Fi Direct. After that, you can press the Wi-Fi Direct button and the Information button together to print the Wi-Fi Direct guide. The guide may not be available in all languages.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your quick response.

The printer is connected to the PC as that's the only way I can get it to print. If I'm direct printing the phone searches for printers but can't find find any printers (just waits) . It does however say I'm connected on my phone settings.

Also when trying to conect via wifi and I still can't find the password?

Thanks for any help

Do you have a router connected to your ISP???

I am unable to get Wifi Direct to work from my HP laptop to my HP Officejet 5741.

I have printed out the HP Network Configuration Page, and enetered the "Passcode" value (8 digits) as the Wifi Direct password, but it is rejected.

I've seen directions to access the printer via its embedded webserver and get the Wifi Direct password, but obviously that only works if the Wifi connection already exists.  And for the connection to exist, I need the Wifi Direct password.
