Hi @90601404,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you encounter an error stating "Wrong or unsupported file format" when trying to print, it indicates that the file you are attempting to print is in a format that the printer or print software does not support. Here’s how you can address this issue:
1. Verify File Format
- Ensure that the file you are trying to print is in a supported format for your printer or print software. Common supported formats include PDF, DOCX, JPEG, PNG, and others depending on the printer.
- If the file format is not supported, convert the file to a compatible format. You can use file conversion tools or software to change the format to one that your printer supports.
2. Use a Different Application
- Try opening the file with a different application that supports the file format. For example, if it’s a PDF, use Adobe Acrobat Reader; for images, use an image viewer or editor.
- Once the file is open in a compatible program, attempt to print directly from that application.
3. Update Printer Drivers and Software
- Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Check if there is updated software or print utilities available for your printer that might offer improved compatibility with various file formats.
4. Check Printer and Software Compatibility
- Refer to the printer’s user manual or documentation to confirm the supported file formats.
- Some printer software has settings for file formats. Check the printer’s software or control panel for any settings related to file format compatibility.
5. Use Print-to-PDF Option
- If you are able to open the file in a compatible application, use the "Print to PDF" option if available. This will create a PDF version of the file, which is widely supported.
- Open the newly created PDF file and attempt to print it.
6. Check File Integrity
- Ensure the file is not corrupted or damaged. Try opening the file on another computer or device to confirm it is working correctly.
- If the file seems corrupted, recreate the file from the original source or obtain a new copy.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
