I just bought an HP 2540, and when I try to print my bank statement, the thing automatically puts big black rectangles over the pertinent info before printing. It prints fine on other printers from other computers, and printed fine from mine on the old printer, which broke. Bank says it's not on their end. I got on HP and a fellow with remote access finally got it to print the statement, but it printed very very very slowly and in green ink instead of black. Going back to fast print and black ink made the problem come back. Has anybody else run into this?

I just found a solution... it's only happening in Chrome. I went to Explorer and printed with no problems.

Welcome to the forums, @gk1969
I would have first assumed that there could have been security measures implemented from your banks website, as this is quite common, when printing out sensitive information. However, you are mentioning that it does work with other printers and your Deskjet 2540 is printing in a green ink and not black, which makes me think of ink or printhead issues with the printer.
I would suggest you troubleshoot by following all of the steps here to start with. When you are done, please let me know the results and we will go from there:

I did all those things previously but will try them again. The odd thing is this bank statement prints fine on other printers, and printed fine on the HP printer I had before this one (which I would still have but it broke). The bank assures me they've made no changes to security, and it would seem to be true because I can print the thing elsewhere, which is what I have done the last couple of times since I bought this printer. As long as I have access to other printers, that's what I may keep doing. But it does seem strange. Thanks for your response.

I'm having the same issue with my HP OJ 6835 that I just purchased. This same problem was happening at another office that I use and I would come home to print them on my old HP 5600 series - that just died.
This is not a printer cartridge issue... it is clearly trying to black out information on the statement. You can see everything clearly on the pdf, but it will not allow you to print the bank statement.

You're an absolute genius. You join the forum on 2/28, I guess because you have this black box issue, find my earlier post, post you're having the same issue, and 4 minutes later figure out what the problem is. You should add "board eligible genius" immediately below "honor student."
I don't have Chrome (unless that's another name for Firefox (I ain't no honor student or genius) but I do have Explorer. And the black boxes are not a problem with Explorer, just Firefox.
I hope that elephant in your avatar means you're from Alabama. If not, you're still my hero.

Thank you so much you are a life saver. I have been having this problem for quite some time. I tried a lot of things and nothing worked until. I read your post. BOOM it worked. I was using Chrome with HP printer as well. But even with my Dell printer it blacked out the information I needed for my 1099s. Used Explorer and everything worked perfect. Thank you so much.
