Repairatrooper What is the fix for the 477dw black ink fade? Same issue and it's time sensitive. Must print for court case...deadline.

Thank you!

This is called black ink fade and is caused in low usage printers that pigment from the black cartridge has settled down and clogged nozzles. If a couple of cleanings does not resolve the issue then it is likely fatal. I am sending you a private message with some advice.

To resolve blank ink fade you must first ensure that you have current cartridges as older ones contained ink that was prone to pigment separation. The pigment then sinks, clogging the jets. You then need to make sure that you have current firmware installed as there have been some changes to help prevent further clogging. Once you have done that you need to print a set of 100 pure black pages. Printing this is supposed to loosen pigment stuck in the nozzles and restore print quality. In some cases it will not be completely solved after the hundred pages, but if you see improvement chances are that your head will recover. Leave it overnight and then perform a head cleaning. I have attached the black page I use for this.
