I've seen this issue on multiple discussions, but there doesn't seem to be a definite answer. After accidentally mixing up ink cartridge numbers and opening the package, there is no way to return the ink to the store. How do we exchange these unused cartridges for the right ones? I've seen answers similar to "the right HP support member will contact you to resolve this issue" but what about everyone else with the same problem? Is there a form we can fill out instead of posting question after question?

Thank you

For those looking for an answer, I suggest contacting an HP employee and telling them that you've bought the wrong ink, and that the package has been opened so you cannot return the ink, but the cartridge has not been used. Also include what country you live in and the retailer where you bought it. From my experience, they will not take back the incorrect cartridges, but they will file a case so you can have a $75 off coupon to go towards buying the right cartridges directly from their online store. I suggest selling the incorrect ones online or to a friend since there's nothing else you can do with them. Fill out this info for the case: Customer Name (first and last), Contact Number, Email Address, Mailing Address, Country, Serial Number (printer, not ink), and Product Name (ink cartridge number + 1, 2, or 3 pack). The employee will send you the code and you'll be good to go.

@Duh_lanie, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
