Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Aboutevery second windows update, I have had software disappear, or somehow be disabled.  Between my wife's laptop and my PC, I have spent nearly $600 in regaining access .  Of course MS support (most of whom can barely speak in the English language clain this printer problem to be all HP, and MS has absolutely no responsibility.

Now, does anyone have a solution as to make the print in Word Mailing appear on an envelope, or even a sheet of paper??

@mittermac,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I see from your post that you are having issues printing envelopes on your HP OfficeJet printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you able to print from Word document or from other applications?

Have you tried to use other software for printing from Envelopes?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

I would suggest the steps mentioned below to try and fix the issue:

  1. Go to Control panel – Devices and printers.
  2. Right-click on Officejet 8600 and select “Printing preferences”.
  3. Under the Paper/Quality or Layout tab, select the paper size and make sure you select the correct envelope #
  4. Apply and save the settings.

Now, try changing the paper settings as mentioned here to print the envelopes: HP Printers - Printing Envelopes (Windows) Check the “Frequently asked questions”, follow the steps under “How do I print envelopes with Microsoft Word?”

If the issue persists, I would suggest you could try to do a clean install of the printer drivers:

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart the computer.

Now click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-8600-e-all-in-one-printe... to download and install the printer software.

Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

I've already  tried what you have recommended.  Got that info from the repair shop where I have gotten Windows 10

straightened out.  Am about ready to get the Olympus electric back out and go back strictly to doing things by hand.
