HP DJ 2132
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Recently I downloaded updates from Windows, these were for the OS I believe. I had to restart the computer numerous times and it took quite a long time. In any event, since these downloads I am unable to print from the computer to my HP DJ 2132.  I have used the HP Doc numerous times and today I uninstalled and then reinstalled the software in the hopes of getting some resolve.  What is even more confounding is that altho I have the DJ icon on my desktop, when I go to devices and printers in control panel there is no indication that the device is there. It may not make a difference but I am no guru and it seems to me that the printer should show up on the panel. To make a long story short, the issue is I cannot print to the printer from the computer.  Can someone please advise?  Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP DeskJet 2132 All-in-One Printer. I read that post few Windows updates, the printer has stopped printing. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Do you receive an error message when you try to print?
  • When you give a print command, does the print job remain in the print queue on does it disappear from the print queue after a while? The print queue can be found towards the bottom right corner.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers.

If the issue still persists post running the HP Print and Scan Doctor then I suggest you to uninstall the drivers from the root level and then reinstall them:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • You may download and install drivers from this link

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂

Thanks much for your input and help!  In regards to your two questions: No I do not receive any kind of error message and yes the print job does show up in the printer queue but dissappears after a minute or so.  As I mentioned in my initial post, I have used the HP Print and Scan Doctor numerous times and gotten no resolve.  When I have more time I will attempt to initiate your suggestions.  Again, thanks much for your help.

Hi @swh1,

I read the post. Thanks for the quick response. You've displayed immaculate attitude and fabulous patience to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 As @MKazi  is out of office, I am responding on his behalf.

  • Does it copy correctly? Please make 1 copy directly from the computer and check if it copies correctly.
  • If it does you could try the steps from the previous post and that should fix the issue.
  • If not you could also try installing the Windows Built-in drivers from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879 and check if the printer prints and the issue gets resolved.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!

My apologies for not responding sooner to your suggestions and help.  In answer to your question: if you mean does the printer print normally, i.e. will it make a copy of something I want copied if I lift up the printer cover and put it on the printer glass--yes I checked this to make sure the printer was at least "alive" so to speak.  As I mentioned, I cannot print something from the computer to the printer. I have attempted both suggestions--I have tried twice the suggestion your friend and the original responder to my problem and I tried your suggestion by downloading the link you suggested regarding Windows Built-in drivers.  Neither has worked.  I am about to go get another printer, but am fearful that whatever was downloaded to the Windows OS several weeks ago may also prevent communication with the new printer software.  Am at wits end and am about ready to load the computer and printer to the Geek Squad.  In any event thanks much for your help and input.

Hi @swh1,

I read the quick post. I was away for a long weekend and could not respond immediately. You've done amazingly well and displayed commendable technical skills and terrific attitude to try and resolve the issue. Great effort and immaculate patience displayed as well. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂

Please don't buy a replacement printer yet as the printer makes copies. Please try these steps:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then create a new user account as an administrator from this link: http://hp.care/2rZfJBC

Later,

download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2xGyLR1 and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should do the trick for you.

Otherwise please install the generic 990c drivers by following the steps from this link and it will definitely print for you.

Please check the steps in the link: http://hp.care/2xFY6uD and follow the steps and screenshots to install the built-in drivers and check if this does the trick for you.

Also, please tweak it a little and when you come to the driver that says Hp Deskjet 990c, the key is to look for 990c, please install this magical generic driver for the printer. This will definitely do the trick for you.

Cheers!
