HP OfficeJet 4655 All-in-One Printer

I am trying to print at a different location.  I cannot print in color nor will the pages flip, even when indicated on the printing menu.  I have had always had success in the past.  I followed all the suggestions (e.g., uninstall/reinstall driver, printer, etc.).  Also, how can I contact HP support?  This is an HP problem.

I solved the issue on my Dell laptop by changing the printer selection to “hp smart printing.”
I can find the option for printing in color and automatically flipping pages for 2 sided printing using hp 4655 printer selection on other devices, including my iPhone, iPad, and a desktop computer. I am able to then print in color and do 2 sided printing with the printer selection “hp 4655.”
Only on my Dell laptop do I change the printer selection to hp smart printing.

Hi @DonnaJI,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how inconvenient it must be when your printer stops working as expected, especially after having it set up correctly before. Let’s work through this together to get your HP OfficeJet 4655 back on track.

  • Is your printer connected to the same network as your computer, and are you able to see it as an available printer when trying to print?
  • Have you tried printing from a different device or application to see if the issue persists, or is it limited to one specific setup?
  • Are you using third-party ink cartridges or any non-standard paper that might be causing issues with print settings?

Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Status:
Ensure the ink cartridges are not low or dried out. Replace any cartridges if necessary and ensure that the cartridges are properly seated.

Set Color Printing as Default:
In the printer settings, ensure that the color option is selected. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-clicking on your printer, selecting Printing Preferences, and ensuring the print settings are set to color.

Reset Printer Settings:
Perform a soft reset of your printer. Turn off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes fix glitches that prevent features like color printing or page flipping.

Check Printer Firmware and Driver Updates:
Ensure that both the printer firmware and drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support site to check for any recent updates for your printer model.

Check Paper Handling Settings:
For the flipping issue, make sure that you have the correct paper settings in the print menu. Sometimes, the "flip" setting will be overridden by the type of paper or tray configuration, so double-check that the correct paper type and tray are selected.

I used the suggestions that you sent prior to my message on the discussion board.  I resolved the issue myself when I changed the printer listed from hp 4665 to hp smart printing.  I don't understand why I needed to do this, and why nobody could help me with this.  Has there been an upgrade to hp involving the app that nobody knows about?
