I was looking at Tledbetter's post with the links to see how to make my printer scan, but the links wouldn't open up.  My HP printer is a printer, copier and scanner #2541.  I can't figure out how to scan documents and send them by email.  Very frustrating.  Can someone please help a non-tech person like myself figure out how to do this using my MacBook Air and the HP2541?  Thanks.

@Deanna2, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Refer to this document HP Printers - How to Scan (Mac) to now different methods of scanning from Mac computer.

To scan to email, you can try the steps below-

  1. Open Finder , click Go in the top menu bar, click Applications, and then double-click Image Capture.

     Apple Image Capture

  2. Click your printer name in the Devices or Shared list, and then click Show Details at the bottom of the screen, if necessary.

After the preview of the scan displays, change the following settings:

    • Scan Mode: Select the scanning bed or automatic document feeder.

    • Scan to: Select Mail.

    • Name: Type a name for the scan file.

    • Format: Select the file type for the scan. When you select the PDF or TIFF format, the Combine into a single document feature is available to save multiple page documents or multiple images into a single file.

  3. Click Scan.

A new email message automatically opens with the scan attached.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
