Hi,

I hope you can help.

I pay a subscription directly to HP to get ink sent when supply is low. I updated the printer firmware, and installed the new cartridges (the three color ones, as they were out). I keep getting 'cartridge depleted' error when trying to print even though they are genuine HP cartridges, I have the receipts, and my printer is registered with HP since it was purchased.

I have done the usual take power off wait 60 seconds, turn back on, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software, etc etc (I am a software engineer, so you have my background, and I work extensively with printers and firmware over navigation networks in the offshore industry, HP in fact, but different models).

I did an internal print test by connecting to the printer IP, and it worked, it printed a printer status report, and the Ink delivery system section of the printout shows full ink on the newly changed color cartridges, and about 40% remaining on black ink.
It verifies that the ink is genuine HP as well as giving the ink installation date. I can send you this report if required. You are also more than welcome to have my user details and printer details to access my file and the printer(privately).
Having done some research, it has been reported online that this issue can happen after a certain firmware update. My printer is updated to the latest firmware. If this is the case, is there a fix? If not, can I please downgrade to the last version before the bug? I don't feel it would be fair that I am paying monthly for a subscription of ink that I registered for when I bought the printer, and when I finally require the ink, I cannot use it. I hope you can help. Thank you in advance.

After 6 hours of troubleshooting, I gave up, and after approximately 2.5 hours of being 'asleep' and untouched, it started printing the spool queue randomly. I have no idea how or why. Not a buffer on laptop as it was restarted a few times in that period. The error message has disappeared. All's well that ends well! Quite a mystery!
