I just removed all my cartridges which were indicating that they were empty.  The printer was working, but wanted to replace with all new cartridges.  Now the printer is not recognizing that the cartridges are in place.  All 5 come up on the

screen which now says " leave machine on until cartridges are installed".

I have cleaned all ports and prongs.  It seems as if the entire cartridge holder is not connecting to the machine.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that your HP printer indicated that the ink cartridges are empty and you have replaced them with new original HP ink cartridges. I read that the printer does not detect the new ink cartridges. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

Please let me know the exact printer model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Did you restart the printer and check?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps on your HP printer:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Hope this helps. Feel free to keep me posted. Eager to help! 🙂

HP officejet 6950 All-in-One series Got replacemnet ink cartridge  HP XL K to replace orginal.  All I get is Cartridge Problem message.  Tried reinstalling no luck, tried new different new XL cartridge, same results.  Replced with orginal cartridge and works fine. Two bad cartridges unlikely.   What is next?
