Hi @

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with your printer, as it is stuck with error code B88A0552 and unable to print.

What the Error Means

Code B88A0552 is not a standard user‑resolvable error like paper jams or cartridge issues.

It typically indicates a firmware corruption or internal hardware fault that stops the printer from completing its boot sequence.

Because the printer crashes immediately, normal troubleshooting (like driver updates or resets) won’t work.

I would request you to please share me the Printer Model.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off your printer.
  • Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Plug the cable back in and turn the printer on.
  • Check if the error still appears.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Open all accessible covers and trays on the printer.
  • Inspect the paper path carefully for any stuck sheets or debris.
  • Remove any jammed paper gently to avoid tearing.
  • Close all covers securely and try printing again.

Inspect Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove each cartridge and check for damage or improper seating.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.
  • Close the access door and restart the printer.

Update Firmware

  • Go to the HP Support website. https://support.hp.com/au-en/products
  • Enter your printer model in the search bar.
  • Download the latest firmware update available.
  • Install the update following the on‑screen instructions.
  • Restart the printer and check if the error clears.

Reset Printer Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings → Restore Defaults or Factory Reset.
  • Confirm the reset.
  • The printer will restart with default settings.
  • Reconfigure your Wi‑Fi and preferences afterward.
  • Take care and have an amazing day!

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
