please help a pensioner who is a complete novice. = problem = printer = hp officejet 6500A plus will not print from laptop = hp altec running windows 8. have scanned from printer to windows photo ok. have edited photo, now wish to print. but when we try computer says printer disabled. so we done a test run and printout report = report says = no problems found. and ALL passed. so what am I not doing or doing wrong. beginning to wish had stayed with windows 7. any help please.

Hello nevillepenny-

 

If you can bring up your search box and type in "device manager". Once your device manager opens up. click on printers to expand it. Now look for your printer. If you find it, right click on it and look for the enable option. Let me know if this works.

many thanks for your reply. however the item in question was put right, and how ! well, when we asked the computer to print the required photo and we said it would not, after some trying numerous ways, what happened was when we looked at the set up on that page we noticed a box that told us what printer was to be used, but when we clicked the arroe in that box a lot more options where shown, in the end the one that showed the printer with the word "copy" at the end of it worked, why we do not know. but again, thank you.
