Hi @Lisas2printer

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how discouraging it feels to see your printer stuck on a blue screen with the error code c9c60005, even after restarting. Thank you for already trying the power cycle.

Let’s go through a set of steps together to help bring the printer back to normal operation.

Step 1: Power Reset

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the error clears.

Step 2: Remove External Connections

  • Disconnect any USB cables or network cables.
  • Try starting the printer with only the power cord connected.
  • If the printer starts normally, reconnect the cables one at a time.

Step 3: Firmware Update via Computer

If the printer still shows the error, update the firmware using your computer:

  1. Connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable.
  2. Download the latest firmware for your printer model from HP’s support site.
    HP Printer Firmware Updates
  3. Run the firmware update utility and follow the on‑screen instructions.

Step 4: Check for Hardware Reset Options

Some models allow a semi‑full reset through the control panel or button combinations. If the printer powers on but shows the error, try accessing the control panel menu and look for reset options.

Step 5: Test Without Cartridges

  • Power off the printer.
  • Remove all ink cartridges.
  • Power on the printer without cartridges installed.
  • If the printer starts without the error, reinstall cartridges one by one.

Step 6: Use the HP App

  • Install the HP App on your Windows PC or mobile device.
  • Add the printer and check if the app detects the error or offers recovery steps.

By following these steps, you can determine whether the issue is linked to firmware, cartridges, or hardware initialization. Starting with a power reset and firmware update usually gives the quickest path forward.
