The e0 error code remains after:
- cleaning the hp ink cartridges
- changing the hp ink cartridges
- reinstalling the driver software
- rebooting the printer
The ink cartridges are new/full and had worked ok so there's no obvious cause.

@snowlyn55, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E0 error typically indicates a problem with the ink cartridges, even if they appear new or were previously working.
Here are the recommended steps to resolve this issue:
Power Reset the Printer
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
Check Cartridge Compatibility
- Ensure you're using genuine HP 67 or 67XL cartridges, which are compatible with the DeskJet 2855e.Which cartridges work with my HP printer? | HP® Support
- If you're using refilled or third-party cartridges, try replacing them with genuine HP cartridges.
Clean Cartridge Contacts
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove the cartridges.
- Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow them to dry for a few minutes before reinserting.
Reinstall Cartridges
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their respective slots.
- Close the cartridge access door and check if the error clears.
Update Firmware
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page and enter your printer model to check for any available firmware updates.
Use HP Smart App Diagnostics
- Download or open the HP Smart app.
- Use the “Diagnose & Fix” tool under the printer settings to automatically detect and resolve issues.
Try a Different Cartridge (if available)
- If possible, try a different set of genuine HP cartridges to rule out cartridge failure.

Thanks Max3Aj,
It turns out that the ink cartridges I had said "hp" on the box but not on the cartridges themselves. So, I "assumed" they were genuine. Apparently they were not.
I replaced them with ink cartridges that have "hp" printed on them, and the printer prints again.
Thanks again
