HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can print in color when I copy something on the glass of the 4520; I can air print from my iPad, but I cannot print in color from the laptop running Windows 10, and am not even getting the opportunity to print in color from printer preferences and also do not get a choice for duplex printing. This is not the way it used to be -- I am not sure what changed. Was there a rogue update to Windows 10?

Hi @willcart22,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I understand that you are unable to print in color from windows.

Don't worry I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Are you facing this issue after an update?

Have you tried changing any setting on the printer?

Try to print from the different application

Use the below link for the printer print settings.

Do get back to me as I have a few more tricks up my sleeve. Said that, if I have helped you resolve the issue.

Have a great day Ahead!

Thank you, Raj -- I believe this must have occured after an update. It had not been a problem before. The only options I get in the settings is to print on both sides manually. I choose to print in color but only get b&w. It is not the printer since everything goes perfectly when I print from ios devices. Is this a known issue? I see someone else had the same problem at about the same time, but said they found the problem (didn't say what it was). Anything more ideas?

Hi @willcart22,

It looks like you were interacting with @Raj1788, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Jeet_Singh & I'm at your service.

As I understand you are able to print from iOS devices and not from your HP laptop, this clearly indicates this could be an issue with the drivers. I would suggest let's try to do a clean install of the printer drivers.

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart your computer.

Now click on this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61220/mp-147799-1/EN4520_Full_WebPack_1122.exe to download and install the full feature drivers.

Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
