@monk55, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer is not printing using a USB connection, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Error Messages:
- Look for any error messages on the printer display and resolve them by following the instructions provided.
Disconnect and Reconnect USB Cable:
- Ensure the USB cable is firmly connected to both the printer and the computer.
- Disconnect the USB cable and then reconnect it to the printer and computer.
Verify Printer Is Not Paused or Offline:
- Windows 10/8/7: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Windows Vista/XP: Go to Control Panel > Printers.
- Right-click your printer icon and select "See what's printing".
- On the Printer menu, make sure “Pause Printing” and “Use Printer Offline” are not checked.
- If any changes were made, try printing again.
Set Printer as Default Printer:
- Windows 10/8/7: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Windows Vista/XP: Go to Control Panel > Printers.
- Ensure your HP ENVY 6455e is set as the default printer (a check mark in a black or green circle next to it).
- If it's not the default, right-click and select "Set as Default Printer". Try printing again.
Restart the Print Spooler:
- Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP: Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Right-click on “Print Spooler” and select “Properties”.
- Ensure Startup type is set to “Automatic”.
- Click “Start” if the service is not already running, and then click “OK”.
Clear the Print Queue:
- Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP: Go to Devices and Printers.
- Double-click your printer icon to view the print queue.
- If there are documents in the queue, select “Cancel all documents” or “Purge Print Document” from the Printer menu and confirm.
- Restart your computer and then try printing again.
Check Power Connection and Reset the Printer:
- Ensure the power cord is firmly connected to the printer and the power outlet.
- Look for a green light indicating the printer is receiving power.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the outlet, wait 15 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and plug it into the outlet.
- Turn the printer on and try using it again.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
