Hi @luke85263 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe printer displaying error code ER11 after replacing the cartridge. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this:

  • Reinstall the Cartridge: Make sure the cartridge is properly installed. Sometimes, even a slight misalignment can trigger errors. Remove the cartridge and then reinstall it carefully, ensuring it snaps into place securely.
  • Check for Protective Tape: Verify that you removed any protective tape or seals from the cartridge before installing it. Sometimes, forgetting to remove these can cause errors.
  • Clean Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently wipe the contacts. Make sure they are dry before reinserting the cartridge.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear out temporary issues causing the error.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Visit the HP support website using your printer's model number. Look for any firmware updates available for your printer and follow the instructions to install them. Sometimes, firmware updates address compatibility issues with new cartridges. Update the firmware on an HP printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
