Hi @solaris21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error 79 on an HP LaserJet printer typically indicates a firmware issue. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected to the printer and there are no loose connections.
  • Update Firmware: Visit the HP support website and download the latest firmware for your printer model. Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the printer's firmware. This can often resolve firmware-related errors like Error 79.
  • Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, a corrupt print job can cause Error 79. Clear the print queue on your computer and restart the printer.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to their factory defaults. Refer to your printer's user manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
