HI @anthia1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error 79 on your M234dwe printer can be quite frustrating, but there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve it:
Check Connections: Ensure all cables are securely connected between your printer and the power source, as well as any network or USB connections.
Update Firmware: Since you provided the firmware datecode, it seems like your printer's firmware is up to date. However, sometimes re-updating the firmware can help. You might want to check the manufacturer's website for any newer firmware versions or patches specifically addressing Error 79.
Reset the Printer: You've already tried powering off and unplugging the printer, which is a good first step. However, also try removing any additional accessories like extra memory or optional trays (if any), then power the printer back on.
Check for Paper Jams: Even if there's no visible jam, sometimes a tiny piece of paper or debris can cause issues. Open all accessible doors and carefully inspect for any obstructions.
Reset Printer Settings: Sometimes corrupted settings can lead to Error 79. Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This option is typically found within the printer's menu system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I saw this solution in another thread that helped resolve the another user's 79 issue. You might want to try these steps :-
- Turn off the printer
- Remove the toner cartridge from the printer
- Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Turn on the printer again. Printer will show Er07 indicating missing cartridge. Now insert the toner cartridge.
- Error should go away and the printer is ready for printing.

Hi Anthia1 ,
Maybe you could try below steps and see if the issue could be resolved.
- If possible, use ethernet connection.
- If printer is connected with wireless, please follow below steps:
- Turn off the printer, remove the toner cartridge from the printer, and then wait for 30 seconds.
- Turn on the printer. After ER07 is shown on control panel, insert the toner cartridge.
- The printer should go back to the Ready mode.
- Press the Information button to print the Printer Information Report. The report contains the printer IP address and printer PIN.
- Open a web browser from computer/mobile device in same network, enter the printer IP address to access the EWS page.
- Click Networking, and enter ‘admin’ as printer user name, printer PIN as password when pop window showing up.
- Go to Advanced at the left panel menu, uncheck IPv6, and then click Apply at the right-bottom of the page.
- Close the EWS page. The printer should recover now.
- If Er79 occurs again, follow step 1-2 to recover the printer.
