HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer

The printer is blinking (orange light) and alternating between the numbers 3 and 6 on the dashboard.  I tried turning it off and unplugging it, but the problem persists. Furthermore, the HP smart app indicates there is an issue, but when I attempt to diagnose it, it says there is nothing wrong with the printer

Hi @Niveti58,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the blinking orange light and alternating numbers "3" and "6" on your HP ENVY 6020e printer indicate a specific error condition. Here's how to troubleshoot this issue:

1. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Open the printer's access door and check for any jammed paper or foreign objects inside.
  • Carefully remove any paper scraps or obstructions, ensuring you do not damage internal components.

2. Verify Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Ensure the cartridges are properly installed and seated.
  • Remove and reinstall the cartridges, then close the access door.
  • Check for any visible damage or ink leakage on the cartridges.

3. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Perform a factory reset:
    1. Press and hold the Resume and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds.
    2. Release the buttons and allow the printer to restart.
    3. Check if the error persists.

5. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
  • Check for firmware updates for your printer and install them if available.

6. Use the Printer's Built-in Diagnostic

  • Access the diagnostic menu on the printer dashboard by pressing and holding the Information button (indicated by a lowercase "i") until all control panel lights illuminate.
  • Press the Resume button to print a diagnostic page.
  • Review the printed page for error messages or issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
